and remove the second battery.
The back EMF from the coil when the transistor shuts down can give you a real good shock.

    Looks like fun,surely the alternator is 3 phase,dont you have to alternatly switch the three pahses on/off and provide power to the armature to make it a magnet for the the feild windings to repel and turn the shaft?Bear in mind I know nothing of pulse motors,well not much.

    So you not using a bedini circuit , your using a reed / transistor pulse motor setup .
    reed triggers the transistor which fires the stator coil which in turn spins the rotor ? is that right ?
    Id like to replicate , if you could provide some details on circuit , also have you done any modifications to the alternator besides putting magnets on the front ?
    because seems to spin pretty easily .Well done you may be onto something.

    just remove the Diode packs and drive 12 volts
    straight in to the brushes.
    and connect a transistor switched by a reed switch. The only thing is the coil resistance is very low so you need Darlington pair transistors to get the gain up if people want I will put a schematic up .
