Word 2007 Tutorial 18 – Making A Simple Poster
The basketball team has taken the state title. I wish to make a poster to illustrate that hard work and teamwork has made us #1. I can make a simple poster with the team picture to illustrate this concept to the whole student body. Posters can be printed cheaper than buying posters from the store. If the printer does not support tabloid size paper or poster board, the file can be converted to PDF and sent to a local print shop to be printed. I called a local print shop and found that they can print a poster on tabloid size poster board for less than $2 USD. Teachers can use this concept to make their own posters to decorate and display positive or educational messages in the classroom.

2008 Topps Baseball Series One Hobby Box Break
On this episode of Wax On we are breaking a hobby box of 2008 Topps Baseball Series One.
I am a long time fan of the Topps base set; I guess collecting every card appeals to my meticulous nature.
This product has a 330 card base set and 4 insert sets: Year in Review, Baseball Card History, Own the Game and Barry Bonds Home Run History.
There are 4 parallel versions of the base set cards, some of which are sequentially numbered. Gold Foil not numbered, Gold numbered to 2008, Black numbered to 57, Platinum all 1 of 1. The 1 of 1 printing plates are also available for the base set cards.
Topps also threw in a few extra sets this year; Campaign 2008 and Topps All Rookie Team 50th Anniversary. They also continued their coverage of Mickey Mantle’s career with the Mickey Mantle Home Run History and Mickey Mantle Story sets.
The Campaign 2008 set features most of the 2008 presidential candidates. These cards also come in a cut signature version, each is numbered to 15. There is also a series of 15 cards that feature presidential stamps of former presidents.
The Topps All Rookie Team 50th Anniversary set is very cool idea and a nice looking set of cards. There are 55 players featured on the 1960 Topps All-Rookie design with their rookie photos. These cards also come in a Gold Foil version that are all sequentially numbered to 99. 40 of the players signed their cards, each is numbered to 50. 20 of the players are featured with a piece of memorabilia, these are also numbered to 50.
Topps also inserted some autograph and relic cards. 48 players signed their 2007 highlight cards. 10 members of the Red Sox’s signed World Series cards, each of these cards is sequentially numbered to 50 and features a piece of memorabilia.
35 players are featured with replica mini all start or world series jerseys, each is numbered to 499. 15 members of the Red Sox’s are featured with a piece of their memorabilia on world series cards. 13 players in the season highlights set are featured with a piece of memorabilia.
There is also a series of cards titled “In the Name” that features patch relics from the name plates on the 2007 all star jerseys, each of these cards are 1 of 1. And Finally there are a series of Barry Bonds Home Run Triple Relic cards that are all numbered to 250.
In my box I received a nice pile of base cards, a healthy selection of Gold Foil parallels, four Gold parallels, two Mickey Mantle story inserts, four Mickey Mantle Home Run History inserts, six awesome looking Baseball Card History inserts, six Year in Review inserts, six Own the Game inserts, four Campaign 2008 inserts, and eight Topps All Rookie Team 50th Anniversary cards. There were no big pulls, but I still feel like I got a nice selection of cards.

2008 Topps Finest Baseball Master Box Break
On this episode of Wax On we are breaking a 2008 Topps Finest Baseball Master Box.
Topps Finest is on the higher end of the companies offerings. The cards can only be purchased from hobby stores, as far as I can tell. My local hobby shop only sells them in mini and master boxes, no packs. The break here is for a master box. Each master box contains three mini boxes.
The product includes a base set of 168 cards; 125 veterans, 25 rookies, and 18 autographed rookie cards. There are also six sequentially numbered refractor parallel sets: Blue numbered to 499, Green numbered to 199, Black numbered to 99, Gold numbered to 50, Red numbered to 25, and White Framed X-Fractors all one of one.
There are also several insert sets… Finest Moments, 30 of these also come in a signature version. Franchise Favorites, these also come in autographed versions. And finally Rookie Card Redemption inserts.
Of course Topps also released the printing plates for the cards as well.
In my box I received three autographed rookie cards; two of Joe Koshansky and one of Chris Seddon. Two gold refractors one of Nick Markakis, the other a Chone Figgins Finest Moment insert. Two blue refractors one of Dice-K, and one of Cole Hamels which is also a Finest Moment. One green refractor of Vlad Guerrero. One black refractor of Mark Buehrel. One red refractor of Seth Smith. One rookie redemption card, #5. And one David Ortiz magenta printing plate. Of course I also got several Finest Moments, and team favorites but nothing special.

Word 2007 Tutorial 19 – Making A More Advanced Poster
This tutorial shows how to create a poster, showing math times tables, for the classroom. The tabloid size poster size was used, in this tutorial. If you wish, you can use tabloid extra size (12×18). If your printer does not support large paper, save the document as a pdf and send the file to a print shop. Some print shops can print posters for less than $3 USD.
